Novel Information and Resources:
"Hamlet's Doubles"
Berry, Ralph. Shakespeare Quarterly, 37.2 (1986): 204-212.
This article looks at Hamlet from more of a literary analysis point of view. In this article, Ralph Berry examines the different types of doubling that occur in Hamlet: from the doubling of parts for actors to the "conceptual" doubling that occurs in the play. "Hamlet's Doubles," could be useful for the historical information involved, as well as getting students to look at the various characters in Hamlet in a different way.
"Hamlet' and the Circumference of Action."
Calhoun, Jean S. Renaissance News. 14.4 (1962): 281-298.
This article, being very true to its title, examines Hamlet (the character as well as the play) and how the action plays out. There seem to be different of circles of action that get increasingly involved and more complicated as the play goes on. This article is, once again, analyzing different parts of Hamlet, but its information can be applied in the classroom setting. Parts of this article entail quite difficult reading, so this might only be able to be applied in upper level English classes such as Advanced Placement English.Hamlet Portal

This website is best used for information on Hamlet as a play, specifically if you want students to get the general idea of the play. Besides the summary, there is also a list of characters with a small description as well as a character profile. It includes sample essays on Hamlet, so that students can look at different themes of study that can be taken on the play. It is rather useful, but is more helpful to show to students needing help with the play more than the teacher drawing from it as a major source of information.Shakespeare Hamlet Guide
http://www.allshakespeare.com/plays/hamlet/index.php
This website is similar to the heySmarty.com website as far as the information readily available is concerned. Available to the general public include an introduction, the text of the play, a plot summary, and a question and answer page (which could be useful to quiz knowledge). Available to members with a "play pass" are more in-depth studies of the play including a scene-by-scene plot commentary, character analysis, sample essays, criticism, and selected quotes.
