Novel Information and Resources:

A Step Beyond-Tests and Answers
Barron's Educational Series Inc., 1985.

I like this website because it would be completely useful to use if I were an English teacher teaching The Pearl and needed help coming up with Test questions or if I wanted the students to have a study guide, I would refer them to this site.

Reference-The Critics
Barron's Educational Series Inc., 1985.
www.pinkmonkey.com/booknotes/barrons/pearl5.asp
I chose this website article because I like to obtain input from other people and see there view point, and also understand why they argue what they do. I also like to see if other people agree or disagree with me in certain areas of a story.

The English Teacher-The Pearl 1998
www.skyport.com/spirit/literature/pearl.htm
I particularly like this site because it would be helpful to have a guide for a lesson plan on the Pearl as you have your class study the book. It also helps with assignments and when you should give quizzes, which leads into the next site.

The Pearl (short story)
Gunn, Drewey. Masterplots Complete. Salem Press, 1999. 1-3.
When I teach Steinbeck's The Pearl, I want to give evidence to support the claim that I would be talking about. I believe wealth and its effect on people is a major topic that would be one to discuss, and this article would help me talk about this issue.

The Pearl and The Old Man and the Sea: A Comparative Analysis
Waldron, Edward. Steinbeck Quarterly. Munice, IN. 13 (1986): Vol. XIII 98-106.
I have learned over the years how effective it can be to compare novels with others. This is why I chose this article, because it compares The Pearl with The Old Man and the Sea, and demonstrates the similarities as well as the differences between the two novels.

The Pearl (Character Profiles)
Rollins, Jill. Masterplots Complete. Salem Press, 1999. 1-2.
This chose this article because it explains the characters from the novel. I believe it is important to know all you can about the characters before you teach the novel to your students, and this article explains each character very well.

The Pearl-The Author and His Times
Barron's Educational Series Inc., 1985.
www.pinkmonkey.com/booknotes/barrons/pearl1.asp

I chose this particular article because I wanted to know more about Steinbeck, and his background. Any information I can obtain about the author, the better it is for me to understand why he/she wrote what they did.

Twentieth Anniversary of the Steinbeck Society
Peterson, Richard. Steinbeck Quarterly. Munice, IN. 19. (1986): 81-2.
It is interesting to me to observe the groups people form around author's. I find it fascinating that people devote their life's work to studying about a particular author, and form societies.
