Recognition for BYU’s Notable Essayists

Lance Larsen, Patrick Madden and Joey Franklin were all listed in The Best American Essays 2015.

PROVO, Utah (December 16, 2015)—BYU professors prepare their students to go forth and serve. Sometimes those students forget that their professors are likewise serving and being recognized beyond the university campus. This year, professors Lance Larsen, Patrick Madden and Joey Franklin were all listed in the “Notable Essays and Literary Nonfiction of 2014” section of The Best American Essays 2015 for their essays “I Am Thinking of Pablo Casals,” “Aborted Essay on Nostalgia” and “Houseguest,” respectively.

The anthology is the latest in a series of yearly collections of essays from around the United States. That the professors were selected for the list places them among the best essayists in the nation.
