"If you don't write it, who will?" is our motto. We bring writers together from the Fiction genre to help them improve their writing by working. We organize writing groups and help writers learn about the many aspects of creative storytelling, including submitting for publication. The goal of the club is to help you improve your writing and get it ready to be published.
BYU's student chapter of LDSPMA offers support for students interested in publishing and other media as they seek to promote positive and uplifting messages through these mediums. We provide educational opportunities and connections within BYU as well as mentoring and networking opportunities with the broader LDSPMA organization.
We are a collegiate publication that has been celebrating unique and thoughtful voices in poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and art since 1984. We invite submissions from anyone...students, faculty, family, and friends...we are always looking for new voices that can stand above the fray!
Criterion: A Journal of Literary Criticism seeks original, well-researched, and intellectually rigorous essays written from diverse critical perspectives and about texts from any time period or literary tradition. We prioritize under-graduate submissions, but will consider submissions from those who have recently graduated and students pursuing a master's degree.
The Poets Society is a club for all BYU students who are interested in joining a community of poetry writers, readers, and lovers. Our mission is to “assist individuals in their quest for perfection and eternal life” by refining their craft as poets through community support and creative collaboration.
Whirligig is a new children’s magazine that will publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and art/illustration for readers ages 6 to 12. The magazine is moving from concept to reality in 2024-25 with the hopes of releasing its first issue (online and in print) around August 2025. The magazine is staffed by BYU students majoring in English, creative writing, illustration and design who work under the direction of Professors Ann Dee Ellis (English) and Melisa Crowton (Illustration).
